6 days left...
[cue Europe's "the final countdown"]
that’s right—6 days left for my preorder campaign to help bring my new album and new book into the world—it’s twins!
we have $6100 to go! thank you all so much!
check it out
while there’s still time…
I’ll keep it brief this week.
perhaps the most relevant crossover here on substack is that one option for the preorder will include selections from this very substack—in print! if you’ve ever thought, “gee, I wish I could read these without looking at my phone,” then you might check out the Book Worm bundle (or I made it where you can add the substack essays option to any other reward).
is that exciting? I don’t know. I’m just trying to bring you flowers.
but really, writing here on substack has been so rewarding. I committed to publish something weekly here back in September 2023, and I hope to continue to do so for the foreseeable future (so little of which is seeable…).
it has been a challenge and a pleasure to explore some ideas animate some of my music and poetry. many times the ideas here are the soil that the songs are rooted in. but you don’t usually write a song about how “a fulfilling life is overrated”, do you?
some of my favorite mini-essays here appear in the “TOP” position, but just as many of them don’t.
what have been some of your favorites?
you’re probably the best crew to give me feedback on this.
other offerings that might interest you:
the new poetry book, Today This Is Eden - hymnal quality clothbound hardback
the new album, Listener - on vinyl & CD
acoustic versions of the album from the Pool Room
song-by-song commentary & tutorials
sending you one of my treasured, favorite books (or vinyl) with a handwritten note telling you what I love about it
a private drop-in concert where you pick the setlist
and more1
I received some cloth samples from the printers for the book. I’m halfway through the final final final2 edit of the book.
the three last players on the album are working to finish the three last songs that needed a little more to bring them across the finish line. I did some touch-up electric guitar work the last few days on the remaining songs.
and yeah, attempting to crowdfund $27k for this new work has taken some of the space on the front burners of my mind.
in closing, please enjoy this countdown-themed video from one of my favorite shows, The IT Crowd. Moss is the best.
thanks for being here. I write weekly sharing poetry, songs, musings, thoughts on creative life, and hopefully some encouragement…
my store is here. my collection of poetry, Snowmelt to Roots, is available in my shop is SOLD OUT! but my music & other merch are still in my shop. and to listen to my music, go here.
if you’re interested in having me out for a concert, a talk, a workshop, etc., please write to contact@zachwinters.com. some fun new concert announcements here (more to come).
with gratitude,
Z
lol—I hate feeling pitch-y… but sometimes if I don’t tell people what I’m working on, they won’t know. go figure.
no really—this is the reeeeeeeeal final.
